FAQ and Posting Guidelines

How do I join?
Step 1: Read the rules!

Step 2: Go here to see a list of characters already claimed. Pretty much anyone not on the list is fair game - G1 Transformers characters only, please.

Step 3: Go here to apply.

Step 4: Go here to create a player profile.

Step 5: Join tf_sandbox with your character journal, and watch/join the OOC comm with whatever journal you would prefer. And then RP away!

Are relationships allowed?
Yup! Het, slash, whatever.

Sticky, tactile, or spark?
Short answer: yes. Anything over a PG13/T rating needs to be on character journals and linked back to the main comm (and warned for), so it's really up to the participants involved.

What about violence?
Yup, that too. Ratings are harder to judge on violence, so the distinction goes: extremely graphic violence goes on character journals - torture, pretty much anything Vortex does, etc. - while fighting and combat is allowed on the main community.

Do you allow multiple character claims?
Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: Initially, you may claim one Autobot and one Decepticon character. Once you've joined and played those characters for at least one week, you may apply for an additional character. After playing that character and all other characters for a week, you can apply for another.

Do you allow original Characters?
Yes, but in order to apply with an OC, you must already be playing at least one canon character. As with additional canon character applications, there is a waiting period of one week between character applications, canon or OC. The form for applying with an OC is longer and more involved, with a more complete description of the OC.

What do I do if I have a problem with another player?

Posting Guidelines
Timestamps
Time stamp your entries! This is simply the day of the week the action is occuring in-game, and the general time of day. This makes it much easier to sort out who is doing what and when. For example:
[Monday, early morning]
[Wednesday, midday]
[Tuesday, after the battle]

Character Interaction
*Asterisks denote character actions, in present tense*
Plain text denote speech.
Radio contact in italics
For example:
*Red Alert glares across the desk* And you expect me to believe this?
*encrypted frequency* Red Alert to Prowl - I've got a problem here.

Other Entries
Other sort of RP entries are posted to the comm, such as personal logs, reports and suchlike. Mark these clearly, and use your judgment.

Inviting/Discouraging participants
Entries not on private journals are assumed to be open to anyone whose characters would be in the area who wish to join in. If you would like the RP to remain between pre-agreed-upon participants, put [closed participation] at the end of the entry. Similarly, if you wish to encourage others to join, put [open to anyone] at the bottom.

Out of Character Comments
If you would like to say something OOC in an entry or a comment, the format is ((ooc: blahblahblah))
For example:
*Red Alert splutters* That is not what I'm saying!
((ooc: Because Red is just so much fun to pick on.))

You've got exactly two breems to explain yourself or I'm going straight to Prime.

Scenario 2:
Decepticons incoming, multiple vectors. *Red Alert scowls* We've got seekers inbound from the North, Stunticons from the West, ETA six breems. Our backup isn't going to make here in time. What do you want us to do?

Decepticons:
Scenario 1:
*Blitzwing looks down at the smoldering remains of the supposed super weapon then back at his companion* Well, that coulda gone better. We got Autobots coming in fast and the big scary cannon's a pile of slag. Got any bright ideas on what to do now?

Hey y'all! Righto, this would be our brand spankin' new OOC comm, and this is the post where you get a chance to tell me I need to change something. Everyone find the layout readable? Think it's hideous and I need to change it right now?

And now, to the important things. Despite the amusement that I'd get from being an evil dictator, it takes too much energy, so, input! Here's the fledgling community rules:

1. Be respectful. Name calling and offensive behavior has no place here. If you have a problem with another player that you cannot work out on your own, contact a mod - at the moment, me.

2. No godmodding. This means no taking control of another player's character, no assigning attributes to other characters that their players didn't okay, no assuming that an attack hits another character, or how much damage it does to another character.

3. Avoid powergaming. Yeah, some characters are powerful. The Stunticons have forcefields that will soak most damage, but that doesn't make them immortal. Blur is fast, but he can't dodge everything. Face it, eventually your character will screw up, and that's what makes the game fun.

4. Keep IC IC, and OOC OOC. There's two sides to this. First, Metagaming - Players know things that characters don't. If your character wouldn't reasonably know something, then act like they don't know it. Secondly, IC actions do not equal OOC attitudes. Just because my character punched yours in the face doesn't mean I'm angry with you! Do not take things that happen to your character personally. That said, keep in mind rules 1 and 2. If something happens that makes you uncomfortable, or you feel places you in an uncomfortable or unsafe position, contact a mod ASAP.

5. IC actions have IC consequences, so if your character acts like a jerk, expect them to treated like one.

6. Put a reasonable effort into making your postings readable. This means adhering to the general format of RPing posts, and that spellcheck is your friend.

7. The community is PG13. Anything higher than PG13 can happen on personal journals. In order for something that happens on a personal journal to be considered to have "happened" in the game, a participant needs to post a link to the entry in the community, with any appropriate warnings (off-comm for sex, violence, sex and violence, Vortex, etc.)

8. Endeavor to stay in-character. Characters are open to personal interpretation, but try to keep them recognizable as the character from the canon source!
